Add an Inventory Item

Adding an Inventory lets Cash Register Express users have a larger control what is on their shelves. By entering your inventory you will know when to re-order and how much of each item you should have.

Adding new items to inventory and changing the amount in stock is simple.

1. To add an inventory item, click on the Options menu, then click on Adiminstrative at the bottom left. Select Inventory Maintenance.

2. Click on the Add button.

3. Click on the Department that you created earlier in Department Maintenance. This would be in the left hand corner of the screen in the Department field.

5. Move the cursor, you can use the <tab> or the arrow, to the description field. Type Screwdriver.

6. Move to the Cost field. The cost is how much the item cost to purchase from the vendor. Type 175.00.

7. Move to the Price field. The price is how much your store will sell the item for. Type 275.00.

8. Move the cursor to the Retail Price field. This field is strictly for reference and does not need to be filled out. It can record how much the item is selling for in the market. Type 300.00.


9. Move the cursor to the In Stock field. This field lets you know how much of the item you have in stock. Type 100.

10. Click on Tax 1. 11. Select the vendor that you added in the Vendor Maintenance field. This can be done by clicking on it or using the arrow keys.

12. Move to the Reorder Level field. This sets the level of how much you'd like to have left in stock before you're made aware that they should be reordered. Type 25.

13. Move the cursor to the Reorder Quantity field. This field tells you how many items you should reorder at a time. Type 50.

14. Click on the other tabs to display more options for an inventory item. Enter the information as needed. Once you're done entering information, click on Save. Congratulations, you have just added an item to your inventory.
